Oilers win in OT/GAME DAY

When will the Kings decide to play 60 minutes of hockey?

The Kings went toe-to-toe with the Oilers on Friday night in Tulsa for two periods, but twenty minutes of lacklustre play in the third period cost them.

In the first period, both teams went through the standard feeling-out process before developing the frame into a hockey game. Tulsa drew first blood early as Jack Combs scored for the Oilers at 3:42. Kings responded quickly as Maslonka scored at 4:17. It was 1-1 after one.

In the second period, the Oilers took the lead again on a goal by Chad Costello at 10:20. But the Kings fought back and scored two more goals in the middle frame.

Matt Summers and Louis Dumont scored for the RiverKings. It was 3-2 after forty minutes of play.

The third started out well for the Kings as Patrik Levesque scored at 7:21. The Kings were up by two…game over right?

No such luck folks, Tulsa would score 27 seconds later by Hulak. Then the sins of all sins (Too Many Men Bench Minor) at 15:35. The result, the Oliers scored on the powerplay with Costello scoring his second of the game. It was 4-4 after 60 minutes of play.

Then it was OT.

The game headed to a five minute overtime period where neither team made a mistake.

The Kings and Oilers couldn’t buy a goal in the overtime as Sterling and Keserich stopped everything fired their way.

Then it was the extended shootout once again.

It took 12 rounds to decide the shootout. Michel Beausoleil got the game winner for the Oilers. The final 5-4 Oilers.

Mississippi was 0-for 3 on the powerplay. Tulsa was 1-for-4. Mississippi outshot the Oilers 38-37.

The RiverKings are back home tonight as they battle with the Wichita Thunder at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, starting at 7:05pm.

The Thunder are coming off a big win vs Colorado.

After Colorado was called for the first three penalties of the game against Wichita at the INTRUST Bank Arena, Stewart had had enough of referee Tudor Floru. Stewart was ejected for verbal abuse of officials 8 minutes, 9 seconds into the second period, and the Thunder scored four times in the next six minutes on their way to a 5-4 victory.

Joe Sports thoughts on Friday nights game.

We can’t be taking any penalties at the wrong times. (Too Many Men Bench Minor)

We lost total momentum of this game in the third period.

We are not playing a full game.

When Kaminski is watching videos of the games, is he watching a twenty minute or forty minute video. It certainly can’t be a 60 minute video.

That’s the way I see it and I’m Joe Sports.

Game Day/ Thunder vs Kings

One of these two teams will play 60 minutes (Right?)…

One can only hope we see a hockey game on Saturday night. Are the Kings taking any periods off?

If so, maybe we can just agree to play one solid period of good hockey and call it a night.

Well then it’s settled. You guys take the first period, we’ll take the second period and we’ll both just file a note with the CHL that stipulates neither team has an interest in the third.

May the best team win.

See you at the game tonight. Come-on Kings get it together.
