When the baseball strike started I couldn’t decide whether
I hoped they’d settle it or quit altogether.
I had been losing interest fast and it wasn’t the same;
The players spent more time griping than playing the game.
And the owners acted like a bunch of jerks,
Always trying to foul up the works.
And when they cancelled the series I thought, what’s the use?
Let ‘em both stew in each others’ juice.
The grand old game has been debased and defamed,
And I’ll bet Joe and Ted are really ashamed.
So the strike is over and the sides have parted,
To heck with them—my strike has just started.
