The Grizzlies announced today that forward Rudy Gay will miss at least four weeks due to the left shoulder subluxation he suffered late in yesterday’s win against Philadelphia.
Subluxation appears to be a fancy word for a partial or full dislocation.
Like all NBA teams, the Grizzlies will be off until February 22, when they continue the season at Denver. Under the current timetable, Gay will miss at least 8 games, including six against likely playoff teams (San Antonio, Denver, New Orleans and Oklahoma City).
Based on information available at this time, Gay will be re-evaluated around March 8, and could be ready for either the March 9th home game against the Knicks, or the March 12 road matchup with the Heat.
The injury could hurt the Grizzlies as they try to build momentum onto a current four-game win streak en route to a playoff spot.
