THE 12 HOLIDAYS OF MEMPHISPORT: DAY OF THE BIRD The annual Day of the Bird is celebrated with a gathering of family and friends. Four lucky commenters will win two tickets to the Redbirds and an ‘I Heart Redbirds’ shirt courtesy of your hometown Redbirds. 1. The largest bird I’ve ever seen (besides Rocky?) is an emu……chasing a cat!! It was at a local emu farm in Oakland, TN. And, apparently the cat was not welcome and the emu had no difficulty expressing that.

  2. Terry o'toole says:

When I was a kid I went to see a a taping of sesame street – big bird is pretty um big

  3. thomas baine says:

My kids(9 and 6) and I saw a vulture of some type eating some type of dead carcass on a walk on the greenline about a week ago. We stopped our hike and watched it feast-fairly entertaining.

  4. Kiersten Bagley says:

This is the largest bird that I have ever seen: I was entertained because, well, just look at him. You should want to feel bad for him, but can’t help but laugh hysterically. We call him the dejected bird.

  5. Stephanie Herrada says:

The ostrich is the largest bird I have encountered. It was on a friend’s farm. A little brat was teasing it and it suddenly ran towards the kid and scared the kid and grabbed a mouth full of the kid’s hair and pulled! It was hilarious! That’s what you get for teasing animals BRAT!

  6. Of course, the biggest bird I have ever seen would of course be Rocky Our Redbird. However the most admired actual bird would be our Eagle, representing all of the United State, symbolizing the strenth of the United States of America and everything it stands for. It is a majesticf bird, regardless of it just sitting or soaring though the air as it watches over us.
Rocky of course represents the Memphis Redbirds and will always be in my heart as he watches over our team, heading them to the major leagues and ultimately to stardom. It is with great pride that our 2011 World Series Champions were graced with many former Redbirds, Albert, John Jay, Dickerson, Descalso, and ,many others over the years, even those who no longer in the Cardinal organization such as Rick Ankel. It is a blessing to know that I have had the pleasure of watching them mature into the champions they have become.

  7. Well, Rocky of course!!!
