Week 7 TAM Rankings: Ole Miss stays No. 1 despite three game losing streak

rebel black bearAfter the TAM teams went winless in last week’s contests, it was time to see how each of them would bounce back.

Tennessee and Vanderbilt both enjoyed bye weeks this Saturday, so at least they did not lose.

Mississippi State held on late to preserve a one point victory against Bowling Green State, and Arkansas State absolutely dismantled Idaho for the TAM teams two wins of the week.

The Rebels once promising season has taken a different turn after they suffered their third straight loss on Saturday.  Life for Ole Miss fans does not get any easier as they get LSU at home on Saturday.

Arkansas has completely come apart since their loss to Rutgers.  A four game losing streak and a 45 point shellacking by South Carolina is not what Bret Bielema had in mind when he agreed to coach the Razorbacks, who drop two spots in the rankings.  Things could get ugly on Saturday when the Razorbacks take on Alabama.

MTSU suffered another conference loss, and it was not close.  The Blue Raiders only threw for 66 yards, and allowed North Texas to rush for over 300 yards in their 31-7 defeat.

Memphis secured another moral victory, as the Tigers managed to be “right there with a chance to win it late” against Houston, just like they were against Duke, MTSU, and UCF.  If moral victories accounted for anything, the Tigers would be undefeated on the year.

Southern Mississippi struggled early, but thankfully managed to avoid a loss during their bye week (obviously I am joking. Hopefully they dominated the bye week).  The Golden Eagles will take on an East Carolina team that is vying with Marshall for the C-USA East crown, so it might be another week before Southern Miss gets a win.

There are a bunch of good games featuring TAM teams with Tennessee facing off against South Carolina, Vanderbilt playing Georgia, and Arkansas facing off against Alabama.  However, the TAM game of the week is Ole Miss versus LSU.  The Rebels look to get back to their winning ways and played LSU close last year, losing by just six points the last these two teams played.

It is the midway point of the college football season, and the TAM teams can ill afford losses if they plan on reaching bowl eligibility this season.  Another week of thrilling college football is about to get underway for the TAM teams.

Without further ado here are week seven’s TAM Rankings…

The Mid-South is full of fans with allegiances to different area college football programs. Which FBS program in the three states surrounding the Memphis area is the best? To help end some arguments and start others, every week MemphiSport ranks all the college football teams in Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi. We call it the TAM Rankings.
