Week 8 TAM Rankings: TAM teams knock off three Top 25 teams

ol-miss flagIf week six was the low point of the year for the TAM teams, week eight has to be the high point.  Three TAM teams had games against Top 25 competition, and all three of them won with Tennessee knocking off South Carolina (No. 11 in the AP Poll at the time), Vanderbilt defeating Georgia (No. 14 at the time), and Ole Miss beating LSU (No. 6 at the time).

The Vols have been nipping at their instate rival’s heels all season and this week’s win catapulted Tennessee over Vanderbilt for the second place spot in the TAM Rankings.

Arkansas managed to keep their losing streak alive in impressive fashion by giving up 52 points for the second consecutive week to an opponent.  To make matters worse for the Razorbacks, Alabama shut them out.  Since the emphasis “karma” tweet from Jen Bielema, Arkansas is an amazing 0-5.

Mississippi State, Arkansas State, and MTSU all had byes, and they will all have games early in the college football week.  Arkansas State plays on Tuesday while Mississippi State and MTSU play on Thursday.

At the bottom of the rankings sit Memphis and Southern Mississippi.  Memphis struggled for most of their contest against SMU, but thanks to a few defensive scores late managed to only lose by five points.

Southern Mississippi on the other hand was manhandled by East Carolina in their 41 point defeat.

There is one game this week that stands apart from the rest for the TAM teams, and that game is Tennessee versus Alabama.  Sure this is one of the greatest college football rivalries in the nation, and the Vols have a chance to knock off the No. 1 team in the BCS and the defending BCS Champions.

However, more important than that is the fact that no TAM team has scored a point against the Crimson Tide.  Both Arkansas and Ole Miss played Alabama earlier this year, and neither one of them managed to score a single point.  If the Vols can find a way to score in the TAM game of the week, it will be a huge accomplishment for TAM teams everywhere.

This is a crucial week for TAM teams with the bowl picture beginning to take form.  It is sure to be another week of excitement for the TAM teams.

Without further ado here are week eight’s TAM Rankings…

Your rankings/opinions/polls or whatever you call it is a JOKE just like the newspaper’s Dandy Dozen. My question is what qualifications do you have to do what you do? In this case, rank teams. I am sure none of you have any experience at playing or coaching sports.
