MSL’s ‘Beat Us at the Oscars’ Contest

MSL Oscars

Do you think you can beat the best Oscars handicappers in the Mid-South at their own game?

For the 5th consecutive year, MSL host Kevin Cerrito and Memphis Flyer Film/TV Editor Greg Akers will preside over the best (and only) Oscars Handicapping Show in the Mid-South, on Saturday, February 22, at 6 p.m. on Sports 56 WHBQ/87.7 FM.

And now, for  the first time ever, the two Oscarologists are giving you a chance to try to outpick them in MSL’s “Beat Us at the Oscars” contest.

Cerrito & Akers are so confident in their Oscars-picking abilities, they will announce their official picks during MSL on Saturday, February 22, at 6 p.m., and podcasted at MemphiSport.com. They’re going to tell you who they think will win, because they don’t think it matters whether you know or not. They’re still going to beat you.

UPDATE: Listen to the podcast of MSL’s 2014 Oscar Handicapping Special.

Further, Cerrito & Akers feel so good about their chances, they are prepared to give away more than $200 worth of prizes, including a festival pass to the 2014 Indie Memphis Film Festival, to someone who can beat them at guessing the Academy Award winners.

If you are courageous enough to run the gauntlet of all 24 Oscars categories, and lucky enough to outpick both Oscarologists, you’ll be eligible to win the following prize showcase:

One Indie Memphis Festival Pass (Value $100)
Two tickets to a show at Playhouse on the Square (Value $60-80)
$10 to E’s 24 Hour Cafe
A free appetizer and a free hour of pool at Fox and Hound Cordova

If more than 5 movie buffs beat both Cerrito & Akers, the best 5 ballots will win the prize showcase. In the event of any ties, winners will be selected at random from among those tied ballots.
