Recap: WWE RAW in Memphis

Hogan & Cena MemphisLast night, the road to WrestleMania XXX passed though Memphis, Tenn., at a sold out FedExForum. The fans of Memphis witnessed a star-studded event that featured sports entertainment’s biggest stars – many of which made Memphis Wrestling their home in the past.

Hometown hero Jerry “The King” Lawler was decked out in a gold tuxedo t-shirt Elvis Presley-style, fans voted to see WWE’s first ever Memphis Street Fight and The Undertaker sent a message to Brock Lesnar. If that wasn’t enough, the Memphonites (as Hulkster would say) also witnessed two of the biggest superstars in the history of professional wrestling in the same ring at the same time – John Cena & Hulk Hogan.

Even with so much action going on, the featured storyline of the night involved former Memphis Championship Wrestling star Daniel Bryan. Bryan, his “YES Movement” & fans of Memphis actually high-jacked Monday Night RAW. Or as Bryan would call it, “occupy RAW.”

Daniel Bryan stood tall inside the squared circle with hundreds of wrestling fans by his side pointing to the sky and chanting “YES, YES, YES!” Bryan & his fans refused to leave the ring until he was awarded his match with Triple H at WrestleMania XXX. Bryan was not only given his match at Mania, but if he beats Triple H, he will then be placed into the main event at WrestleMania for the World Heavyweight Championship.

The night ended with Daniel Bryan pinning current World Champion Randy Orton for the victory in tag team action.

Fun Memphis Facts:  The last time Hulk Hogan performed in Memphis, TN was at Clash of the Legends against Paul Wight on April 27, 2007. Paul Wight is better known to the wrestling world as The Big Show.

The Undertaker made Memphis Wrestling his home for many years under the alias “Mean” Mark Callus. Now, The Undertaker has the task of defending his signature & legendary undefeated streak against Brock Lesnar.

Unfortunately for the fans of Memphis, Kane did not appear in his Christmas Creature gear.
