In the late 1990’s, Memphis PowerPro Wrestling took off as the premier wrestling organization in Memphis. Hosted by Dave Brown and Corey Maclin, PowerPro Wrestling was live every Saturday morning on WMC-TV5. This version of Memphis Wrestling was the official “farm league” of the WWE for many years, giving Saturday morning wrestling a mixture of WWE superstars.
This week’s Throwback Thursday features a gem that you may or may not remember. We’ve seen so many storylines throughout the years, but do you ever remember seeing a proposal on Memphis Wrestling? Well, it happened!
After competing in a hard-fought match against Tony Faulk, “Mr. Personalities” Derrick King was fired up and in love. Faulk had Brandon Baxter and the late Billy Joe Travis in his corner. In DK’s corner was none other than Miss Texas.
The storyline continued for quite a while and even ended up in a huge brawl in a local bridal shop. A wedding never actually occurred.
