Havenview Middle expecting favorable turnout for Health Fair, educator Tika Wilburn says

Upon enrolling at Austin Peay State University back in the early 1990’s, Memphian Tamara “Tika” Wilburn clung to lofty aspirations of majoring in Health.

Now we know why.

“I have been getting people to confirm more and more,” said Wilburn, a 1993 graduate of Memphis Whitehaven High and a product of Havenview Middle.

The event, which is called “Work That Body Work That Mind,” is a community-wide health fair that is geared largely toward promoting healthy living.

A free and open to the public event that will take place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Havenview, located at 1481 Hester Road in Whitehaven, this health fair will offer a variety of entities, most notably pertinent information on health, establishing healthy eating habits, special dieting, as well as vital information on the first line of defense in preventing illnesses and diseases, among others.

In addition, the health fair is an indoor/outdoor event, Wilburn said, and will headlined by a softball game between two area teams that own 3-0 records.

“We look forward to a good number of people from the community to come out and support the teams and hopefully take part in our Health Fair.”
