Dallas native D’Lisa McBride aiming to take her D.M. Language Consulting Firm to a whole new level

DALLAS — There’s no other way to put it.

D’Lisa McBride just loves to compete.

Need more proof?

lalallls“I’m a competitive person by nature,” McBride told longtime journalist during an exclusive interview on Thursday. “I want to be successful at anything I do, even when it comes to helping people.”

Given her immense track resume as an accomplished educator in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, it’s safe to assume that McBride’s competitive drive to excel and maximize her potential have been nothing short of impressive.

A native of the historic Oak Cliff district of Dallas, McBride, to her credit, has gone to great lengths to give back to her community, oftentimes in ways that appeared rather foreign to many.

Literally, at that.

That’s because along with juggling a well-established career in the education sector, McBride has delved off into the world of entrepreneurship as owner and chief operating officer of D.M. Language Consulting Firm.

eeeAccording to McBride, 34, her primary mission for establishing such a unique, intriguing venture is to strategically devise ways to bridge the communication gap in a lofty attempt to increase workforce effectiveness.

“I want to help those struggling to advance in their careers due to language barriers,” McBride said.

That’s not the only benefits about which this newly-erected business offers.

“It takes people places they never thought they could go,” McBride acknowledged. “I help adults that feel they are too old to learn a foreign language, and I help them communicate effectively with people who speak another language.”

Generally, D. M. Language Consulting is geared largely to accommodate groups of individuals ranging in ages 18 and up, although McBride emphasized that she customarily works with children as young as seven or eight years of age.

To her credit, McBride’s distinct body of work has afforded her such opportunities to put her immense skills on display in various cities throughout Texas.

“I’ve met and gotten to know people from all over Latin America and Vietnam,” said McBride, who’s also quite efficient with regards to her learning to speak Vietnamese, Russian, and German as ways to greatly expand her business.

When asked what is her personal mission for doing work of this magnitude, McBride, a Texas Tech University graduate by way of Dallas’ Bishop Dunne High School, said, “Nelson Mandela once said, ‘If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.’ I watch people’s demeanor change once I ask for a manicure or pedicure in Vietnamese. I go from being treated like another customer to a friend. I want to help people by touching their hearts while helping them touch others.”

bbBy and large, McBride was inspired to start her business after noticing how a number of her colleagues had been struggling with language barriers and, of course, as she tells it, when “all those whose eyes light up when I speak their native language,” she said.

Speaking multiple languages isn’t new to McBride, a nine-year veteran educator. She’s been heavily involved in such a venture for the past 10 years, she said.

Given the birth of her newly-established business, it’s safe to say she doesn’t plan to slow down anytime soon.

Which, after all, isn’t a bad thing.

“More people are capable (of being successful) than they know or allow themselves to be,” McBride said.

There’s no other way to put it.
