WrestleMania Hits & Misses

WM29 IconOn last week’s MSL broadcast, the boys & I discussed our opinions of WrestleMania 29.  And with WrestleMania being a four-hour event, you can only say so much on radio.

So, as an extension of that conversation, I would like to share a few of my WrestleMania Hits & Misses.

MISS:  Too many video packages & commercials.  The video packages are great, don’t get me wrong.  But there were just way too many.  Not only is this bad for us watching at home, but imagine 80,000 people sitting at MetLife Stadium… watching a giant television screen.  We paid $70 for pay-per-view.  They paid $500 for the cheapest ticket in the house.

MISS:  No real surprises.  Plain & simply put – we knew what was about to happen.  I would love to have seen Money in the Bank cashed in.  You have to do something big.  And Ryback losing is not what I mean.

MISS:  Ryback losing to Mark Henry.  I do not think a person in the building or watching around the world ever saw that coming.  Even the audience responded in disbelief.

HITS:  Fandango.  Yes, I said it.  Fandano is now a super star.  People around the world are Fandangoing (humming his theme music in unison.)

HITS:  The scenery at MetLife Stadium was amazing.  From the set featuring the Statue of Liberty, to the fireworks blasting off in the background of the wrestlers entrance – it was spectacular like WrestleMania should be.

HITS:  The matches were great.  It’s just too bad all the video packages ruined the pace of the show.  Both Triple H & Brock Lesnar showed up in great shape.  They really did deliver, although they should never be put on before The Undertaker v Punk.

Speaking of The Undertaker v CM Punk, The Undertaker still brings it after all these years.  I was thoroughly entertained with all of the false finishes & near-falls.  Suspense was great.

I’m not saying that I didn’t enjoy WrestleMania 29.  I’m just saying they have a locker room full of very talented wrestlers that didn’t get to be featured on the largest sports entertainment spectacle of the year because the time was eaten up by video packages & commercials for The Rock’s movies.

Your thoughts are appreciated.  Am I wrong?  How was WrestleMania for you?  To me, it just felt wrong.
