Kings suffer third loss in a row

The Mississippi RiverKings were spanked (blanked)(shutout) by the Mississippi Surge 3-0 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum last Friday.

The Surge wasted no time as they scored at 5:53 of the first period. Surges’ Adam Krug found the twine behind Kings returning netminder Darling.

The only positive thing that came out of the first period for the Kings was: They outshot the Surge 14-5. It was 1-0 Surge after twenty minutes.

Just like the first period the Surge again wasted no time to pop in another goal on Darling.

Forty-five seconds to be exact.

It was a powerplay goal. Versteeg-Lytwyn scored for the Mississippi Surge.

The RiverKings again outshot the Surge 7-4 in the second period, but could not solve Surge netminder Nick Eno. It was 2-0 after forty minutes of play.

In the third period the RiverKings had a number of chances including a five minute major power play but could not get one by Eno.

Surge forward Campbell put the nail in the coffin (icing on the cake) at 19:20 of the third. The final, 3-0 Surge.

The RiverKings outshot the Surge 31-17.

Surge netminder, Nick Eno was outstanding between the pipes as he stopped all 31 shots directed his way.

Joe Sports thoughts…

The RiverKings are now 1-3 in this early season.

0-for-9-0-for-9

The Kings went 0 for 9 on the powerplay. What can I say?

The powerplay suffered again, going 0-for-9 and squandering away  a  5 minute major.

Our powerplay just looks non-existent. They had lots of trouble on offense, from non-functional  special teams to slumping snipers.

That’s the way I see it and I’m Joe Sports.

Kings drop two in a row

The Kings were in Knoxville, Tenn. on Friday night and were beaten up badly by the Ice Bears 7-4.

Knoxville got on the board first, scoring two goals in the first 10 minutes, Josh Boyd scored at 5:59 and Eric Satim scored at 9:37 for the Bears. Kings, Ken Selby narrowed the margin at 12:26 and the first period ended with Kings down by one.

The Kings tied the game up at 4:02 of the second period on a goal by Tibor Varga.

Then, Darrell Stoddard gave the Kings the lead at 5:19 in the middle frame.

But then the Ice Bears exploded for two more in the second, Rick Helmbrecht scored on the power play at 7:42 and then at 18:17 Kyle VanderMale found the back of the net for the Bears.

It was 4-3 Bears after twenty minutes of play.

The third period did not start well for the Kings as Bears, David Segal scored shorthanded at just 1:01 into the period.

The Kings would respond though at 2:02 off the stick of Mike Tuomi on the power play.

But the Kings could not rally as the Bears took it to them for the rest of the game with Eric Slais finding the twine at 4:06 and Emery Olauson at 9:49.

Final-Ice Bears 7- Kings 4.

Bears netminder Bryan Hince got the win as he stopped 32 of 36 shots directed his way.

The Kings used two goalies in the game. Jordon Bent stopped 19 of 25 shots and was yanked from the game after playing just over 44:00 minutes. Reynolds replaced Bent and stopped 6 of 7 shots directed his way.

The Kings were 1 for 5 on the power play and Knoxville were 1 for 3.

The Kings outshot the Bears 36-32.

Saturday

The Mississippi RiverKings had a tough night on Saturday as they were edged 4-3 by the Columbus Cottonmouths at the DCC.

It looked like the Kings were not to be denied on Saturday as they came out flying against the Cottonmouths.

The Kings scored three straight in the first period on goals by Kyle Lundale at 9:48. Then just 25 seconds later Paul D’Agostino found the twine. Then at 11:48, Mark Magnowski put it behind Cottonmouths netminder Ian Vigier . It was 3-0 Kings after one.

You have to remember as a team, that when you’re up by three goals the game is not over. It’s a 60 minute game. The Cottonmouths new that, the Kings did not.

In the second period Columbus scored two goals. Jordan Braid(powerplay) and Mitch Wall did the damage. It was 3-2 Kings after forty minutes of play.

John Sullivan tied the game up at 8:27 of the third for Columbus. Levi Lind would seal it with a goal at 18:35. The final – Columbus 4 Kings 3.

Kings netminder Alan Reynolds stopped 15 of 19 shots directed his way. Columbus goaltender Ian Vigier had a stellar two periods after his shakey start in the first period. He stopped 27 of 30 shots directed his way.

The Kings were 1-for- 6 on the powerplay. Columbus was 1-for-3.

The RiverKings travel to Biloxi on Friday to battle the Mississippi Surge at 7:05 p.m. at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

Game Day:

The next home game for the RiverKings will be on Friday, November 11th at 7:05 p.m. against the Columbus Cottonmouths at the Desoto Civic Center.

Both games will be broadcast on America One and www.Radio-Memphis.com.

There will be the Away Game Watch Party at The Spot Sports Bar and Grille for the Friday, November 4th game against the Surge. Located at 210 E. Commerce St. Hernando,MS.

Joe Sports Thoughts…

You might wonder why I’m not freaking out after seeing the Kings lose 2 games in a row by a combined 11-7 score.

I’m not so worried about that, I’m worried about giving up leads. I‘m worried about the power play, in the two games played on the weekend, we were 2-for-11 on the PP. That is what I’m worried about.

As I have said before, you are not going to win too many games if you can’t score on the power play. You know the cliché, “Practice makes perfect”

I’ll stick to my word. I’ll give this team about 7 games to prove themselves to me, then, I’ll give you my honest opinion.

That’s the way I see it and I’m Joe Sports.

Holy Cow, Kings Win Home Opener

Well, the first game in the SPHL is in the books. The RiverKings came out on top with a 5-3 win over the Pensacola Ice Flyers in the Home Opener on Saturday night at the DCC. It was reported that 6,287 fans were at the Desoto Civic Center. I must be missing something, I think I counted 4001.

The Kings struck first, Mike Tuomi found the twine at 9:48 of the first period. Then the Kings took a 2-0 lead off the stick of Vandenbeld at 13:02 of the first. The Ice Flyers would respond though, as Jeff Topiko scored at 12:43. The Flyers would tie it up on a goal by Jordan Chong at 19:56. I hate those late period goals, they seem to have a habit of coming back to haunt you. It was 2-2 after twenty minutes.

In the second period the RiverKings got in penalty trouble, Mike Carter scored for the Flyers, making it 3-2. That’s the way it would stay for the rest of the period. It was 3-2 Flyers after forty minutes of play.

The Kings came out flying in the third period. They scored three unanswered goals. Rob Sich, Lundale and Stodds found the back of the net. Kings win 5-3. Kings netminder Darling stopped 27 of 30 shots directed his way. The Flyers netminder had a rough night, he stopped only 20 of 25 shots directed his way. Stars of the game: 1st Stoddard, 2nd Vandenbeld, 3rd Tuomi.

The Mississippi RiverKings are on the road on Friday, they have a battle with the Knoxville Ice Bears. 6:35pm is the start time. The game will be broadcasted on America One and on Radio Memphis, with the pre-game show beginning at 6:15pm. Watch it with other Kings fans at the Spot, located at 210 E. Commerce Street in Hernando, Miss. (I DON’T GET THIS ONE, IT’S A HELL OF A DRIVE AFTER A FEW POPS)

The Kings then come home for a Saturday tilt with Columbus at 7:05 p.m. at the DCC. Keenan Slusher will make the call for both game broadcasts. Remember it’s ‘Pink at the Rink” night. All fans are should wear pink to this game. The Kings will be wearing pink and the pink jerseys that will be auctioned off immediately after the game. All proceeds going to support Pink Heals Memphis and Hernando Youth Sports.

Joe Sports thoughts:

• As I said, a couple of articles ago. From the games I watched last year in the SPHL, THIS IS ENTERTAINING HOCKEY.

• This league is slowly growing and the talent level is getting better every year. Remember the franchise fees are lower, salaries are lower and travel is less expensive.

• The powerplay sucked on opening night. We were 0 for 4. We have to be working on that in practice all the time. If we don’t it will be a long season for the Kings and their fans.

That’s the way I see it and I’m Joe Sports.

The RiverKings have done some dramatic retooling

Well, it’s hockey time at the DCC. New season, new league, new team, new coach- the home opener is on Saturday, October 22nd. The RiverKings welcome the Pensacola Ice Flyers. The Kings celebrate their 20th Anniversary Season and their first ever game in the SPHL.

Ask any hockey coach what they think about their team’s pre-season play and you’ll get a similar response: It doesn’t mean anything. I have to agree with that.

Pre-Season Re-cap

Last Thursday was the Kings first exhibition game in Huntsville Alabama and they came out with a win. They edged the Havoc 2-1.

On Friday at the DCC, the Kings blew a 3 goal lead after the first period and the Havoc won in a shootout, the final 6-5 Havoc.

Like I said, that’s over, so lets get to the real season.

Here’s an article that was in the Desoto Times this week. A talk with the coach.

http://www.desototimes.com/articles/2011/10/20/sports/doc4e9f3aef5b12e249014696.txt

After reading that, I have to be a little nervous about this season.

Quote from the coach.

“We have good depth and a lot of firepower,” said Landmesser. “I played defense when I played, but I know the fans love an up-tempo style with a lot of goal-scoring ability, and, that’s what we should be this season.

Please Derek, don’t forget defense,  remember the saying. Defense wins championships!!

I ask you, will we have three good lines.

Most elite teams have a pretty good contribution out of the third line, what happens when you have a threat on the third line, you’re generally going to see a weaker pair of defence. Lets hope we have three solid lines.

Goal scoring in the past has been a problem for the Kings, particularly on the powerplay.

This season the powerplay has to be running on all cylinders.

Seriously folks, the SPHL is known for a lot of penalties and if we are on the powerplay we have to score. Plus we have to have a great penalty killing team. A Hockey game in this era is won on special teams and that goes for the NHL also.

The Kings have done some dramatic retooling this off season. Where will the Kings finish in the 2011-2012 season, your guess is as good as mine.

This season rests on a lot of ifs.

That’s the way I see it and I’m Joe Sports.

New territory for the Kings

Scared to make predictions until it’s a little safer to do it? I’m with you on that one. I have no clue on how the Kings will perform this year in a new league.

A few days ago a friend of mine and a Kings fan for over 15 years said to me “the Kings are going to be a number one contender in the SPHL”.

I said. “ what are you smoking man.”

A prediction depends on a lot of factors. And at this time, I am out in left field on how this team will perform in the SPHL.

All I know is, that I’ll give them at least 4-7 games into the season and then I’ll tell you exactly where we will end up. That gives me time to figure out this team.

Like I have said before, I don’t even know if Landmesser can coach and what kind of hockey players he has assembled for the 2011-2012 season.

Here is an interview with new head coach Derek…He says he’s put in long hours…I sure hope so!!

http://www.youtube.com/user/RiverKingsHockey?feature=mhee#p/a/u/0/Ge96077-8ug

This is new territory for the Kings, the teams we will be playing are established, it’s the Kings first kick at the cat.

Energy and execution for me are two of the biggest factors in a hockey game. Will the Kings have that, I guess, we will wait and see.

That’s the way I see it and I’m Joe Sports.

You want fights…let’s hope the Kings have some fighters. Guaranteed in the SPHL, you will have three or four during a game.

What can I say… Insanity !!

So long CHL… The times are a-changing

We have a team!! A GM ? A coach? Well at least we have hockey. To me it doesn’t matter what league were in. We didn’t do well the past few years in the CHL. I just want to see 100% effort !!

I went to a few games last season in Huntsville and  a few in Knoxville. Hey, I had a blast and the games I did see were a hell of lot more entertaining than the Kings were last season.

I don’t need to go on in-depth about what I think about the GM, YOU KNOW MY THOUGHTS THERE.

The coach, don’t get me started. Landmesser is going to have his hands full right off the bat. But let me say no more, don’t blame the players who will be coming. Can Landmesser actually coach? He had a tough time being a captain.

Besides all that, it’s great to still have a team. They didn’t fold.

So let’s give this version of the Kings a chance. Don’t boycott the DCC AND THE TEAM. If the GM and coach can’t deliver a winning team on the ice, then get rid of them, not the team.

Let us hope our fans don’t have to do this all season long.

That’s the way I see it and I’m Joe Sports.

The times they are a-changin’ !!

Staying Alive

Staying alive, staying alive. Well we’re still alive. I can’t believe the Kings couldn’t finish off the Oilers. We won game one and two in the Oilers barn. Up two games to none in the best of five. Then the Oilers visited us at the DCC and beat us in our barn. Now game 5 goes back to Tulsa. The deciding fifth game is on Saturday, April 9th at 7:35 pm.

Can we do it? I think not. This team can not step up to the plate. The golf clubs might as well be shined up now and put Kings fans out of their misery for this season.
That’s the way I see it and I’m Joe Sports

Kings recap/Let the Playoff games begin

“The hardest thing in the world to understand were the Kings this season”

Joe Sports.

Even though we lose some and we win some, can we do that in the playoffs? Folks, they won’t make it past the first round, we just don’t have the depth. This is not a club built for playoff success. Lets just hope they don’t get humiliated in the first round.

Tulsa in 4. The Kings will win one.

What happened in the final three…

Friday night

The Kings dropped a 3-1 decision to the Allen Americans last Friday at the DeSoto Civic Center.

Saturday night

The Kings were down by four goals vs the Americans in Allen, Texas on Saturday night. But, for some reason, they had some life in the third period. The RiverKings scored four goals in the third and ended the period in a 4-4 tie. The Kings won in the shootout. The final 5-4.

Sunday…

The Kings finished the season on a bad note. No surprise. They got whipped 8-1 to the Thunder in Wichita. (Ouch)

Joe Sports thoughts

Sorry folks there is no run for the Cup this year.

That’s the way I see it and I’m Joe Sports

Just a quick note on a former King Player: Marge…Good luck Margeson.

Playoff Predictions

Ahhhhh, the playoffs, one of the best times of the year! It would be a lot better if the Kings had a chance, the Kings were in a slump all season. The question is, who is going to win the Cup this year?

This year has been full of ups and downs for many clubs and has been very unpredictable as a whole.Who are the serious contenders?

Momentum, it means so much in this league! Anyways, here I go with my predictions.

I know the final four already. So why analize each series in each round. It’s a waste of time. Lets cut to the chase and give you the final four. That way you can get some other things done in playoff time.

The Turner Conference was pretty close, it was very competitive this year.

The Turner Conference has a few teams which could go deep into the playoffs and contend for the cup. The first of these teams is the the Rapid City Rush. The Rush have a good all around team.

They have come together in the second half of the season and are looking to be in good shape to defend their championship this year.

The Eagles will go deep into the playoffs also. If they play at a high level, expect Colorado to battle the Rush in the conference final. The only thing I would question on this team is their heart.

Final- Rush over Colorado in 7 games.

Berry Conference

Only one team stands above the crowd. The Allen Americans.

The only other team that could really surprise in the Berry Conference , I think is the Oilers. Can they get the goaltending. That’s the big question. If they do get the goaltending, there is no reason they can’t get to the Conference final. They have the offensive talent.

THE REST OF THE CONFERENCE IS NOT THAT GOOD. I would have put the Bugs in the conference final, but they have not had the goaltending this year.

The odds on favorite to win the cup are the Rush. They play in a much tougher conference. But the road to the Cup will go through Allen. Rush vs the Americans. Americans in 7 this year though..

No matter who wins the cup a few key factors will need to come into play:

1) Goaltending – can the teams goalie play above the norm?

2) Injuries – the deeper a team goes into the playoffs the more injuries will impact them.

3) Referees – Will the CHL referees change the course of the playoffs like they have done to many games in the regular season.

That’s the way I see THE PLAYOFFS and I’m Joe Sports.

Enjoy the game tonight and have a great day.

I’m Joe Sports

Kings Clinch/Are we finished?

Well , not a bad weekend for the Mississippi RiverKings. The Kings were 2-1-0 and have clinched a playoff spot. Yes, you read it right, have clinched a playoff spot.

Now don’t get to excited about this, all but one team in the Berry Conference makes it. I guess the league wants to put more money in the owners hands. How does a team with a 29-29-5 record qualify for a playoff spot. Hey don’t get me wrong, I love the playoffs, but seriously folks, how far are we going to go?

It’s the final weekend in the CHL. Mississippi is 6TH in the Berry Conference race. Four points behind fifth-place Odessa and four points ahead of seventh place Arizona.

Friday Night

The RiverKings edged Texas 6-5 in the opener of a three game weekend. Scoring for the Kings, Boyd, Flath,Stoddard, Lackner(2) and Richards.

Saturday Night

The RiverKings played another solid game on Saturday night as they completed the sweep vs the Texas Brahmas with a 4-3 victory at the DCC. We had four different goal scorers on the night, Chris Auger, Sarazin, Smith and Sheldrake scored for the Kings.

Sunday…

We went back to playing bad hockey. We were spanked 7-0 by the Missouri Mavericks in Independence. Mississippi was outshot 35-22 in the game.

The final 3 this weekend.

We take on the Allen Americans at home on Friday and play Allen again on Saturday in their barn. Sunday we play in Witchita vs the Thunder.

The Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League have announced information regarding ticket pricing for the upcoming 2011 Ray Miron President’s Cup playoff series. The RiverKings have qualified as one of the eight teams from the Berry Conference to play in the CHL post-season.

Joe Sports thoughts…

Well, we looked good on Friday and Saturday, but Sunday we looked like a team that didn’t care.

Are we finished?

I still think we’re done, there is a log jam in the standings, but to me this team doesn’t have what it takes.

What do you think?

Here’s a few thoughts from some fans that emailed me after the weekend and some comments on other RiverKing chat forums..

Sunday’s game..

1.This ranks right up there with the first game of the season. If a team of so called professionals is going to mail it in, why not call in sick and stay in Southaven, donate their pay and bus expense to the Jr Riverkings and everyone will be happy. Just when you thought things might be getting better. Poor babies, the bus ride must have been brutal.

ITS CALLED PRIDE!!!!

2.The Turtles just looked like a really bad team

3.I didn’t think the Turtles looked bad, they looked like they were skating in wet cement.

That is this team’s calling card…WORLD BEATERS ONE NIGHT, AND ABSOLUTE SLUGS THE NEXT! No one should be even slightly surprised by this!

4.The Kings are not going anywhere.

5.This team has sucked since the start of the season.

The fans have spoken…

JOE SPORTS FINAL THOUGHTS THIS WEEK

This team has had it’s worse season, we were a least competitive in the last five or six seasons and maybe more. This was a bad bad season.

The Plus/Minus stinks. Put it this way, when the highlight of your sports year is the Kings winning three in a row, it’s been a bad year.

That’s the way I see it and I’m Joe Sports.

I’m Joe Sports have a great day and week and enjoy the final 3.

Offside Thursday/Not much of a dog fight in Arizona

A road trip to forget. I was in Arizona and let me tell you the Kings looked dreadful.Yes we won ,1 out of 3. Big deal.

Saturday night

The Arizona Sundogs thumped us 7-4. Arizona took a 1-0 lead as Joey Sides scored on the powerplay at 3:26 of the first period. That’s the way it would end at the end of twenty minutes of play 1-0 Sundogs.

Mississippi tied the game at one on a goal at 2:35 by Matt Summers’. Then Lackner scored at 4:43. The Kings were up by one. Then, all of a sudden the Kings stopped playing, they had no jump and looked like they would rather be on the golf course, Don’t worry boys, you’ll be on the course sooner than you think.

The Sundogs scored four in a row, Kyle Hood, Tyler Butler (powerplay), Corey Laurysen, and Mark Kolanos scored for the Dogs. It was 5-2 at the end of forty minutes for the Sundogs.

Kings netminder Sterling got the call in the third as Alexander Pechurskiy got the hook. But that didn’t seem to change things as Luke Erickson and Samuel Grenache found the back of the net. It was 7-2 Arizona. However, the RiverKings scored two more, Sarazin (powerplay) and Landmesser scored. The final 7-4 Dogs.

Mississippi were 2-for-7 on the powerplay. I don’t even know why they call it a powerplay anymore. Arizona was 3-for-8.

Pechurskiy stopped 16 of 21 shots directed his way. Sterling stopped 5-of-7 shots. Not a good average for netminders. The Sundogs netminder Szuper stopped 28 shots.

Friday night.

We got a win, which made my monster-in-law just furious.

Arizona got on the board first, Luke Erickson scored. The Kings Darrell Stoddard scored at 14:11 to tie things up at 1-1. Auger gave us a lead at 17:34, it was 2-1 Kings after one.

The second period was dull, but the Kings did score one more with R.G. Flath finding the twine with 23 seconds left in the second. It was 3-1 Kings after forty minutes of play.

The RiverKings scored one more in the third period as Boyd scored his fifth of the year.

The powerplay was dismal for both teams, 0-for-6 on the night..

Prior to the game, Central Hockey League commissioner Duane Lewis joined Arizona ownership in announcing that the 2012 CHL All-Star game would be played in Arizona. I got all excited about that. You know how much I like All-Star games.

Up next…Tonight’s game is at the DCC as the Dayton Gems are in town. Game time is at 7:05 pm. We play in Wichita  on Friday and in Quad City on Saturday. All three games will be available on Sports 56, WHBQ-AM (560), with Bob Bakken making the call.

Kings notes

The RiverKings announced that defenseman Milan Maslonka has been placed on the team suspension list.Ho hum!!

Joe Sports thoughts

The RiverKings lost last Wednesday night to Arizona 4-1.

KIngs record-25- 27- 5 for 55 points.

It’s been a horrible year, and judging by the Kings’ uninspired play all season long, nothing can save this season. The damage has already been done.

Sometimes you’re right; sometimes you’re wrong. And other times you’re really, really wrong. In my predictions for the season, I very publicly declared that the Kings would end up at the bottom of the Berry Conference. Hey I got something right.

Instead of everything going right for the Kings this season, just about everything has gone wrong. The season thus far has been one huge catastrophe after another. I don’t think a single King has exceeded expectations, while a fair number have been huge disappointments. Now, we have 9 games left in which to pick apart this lousy team.

I am tired of watching the total lack of commitment from this hockey team. To watch what went on Saturday night against Arizona is inexcusable. I am tired hearing Kings players say there is lots of character in the room. That maybe is true, but what they do not have is a character team. A big difference, a difference the players and management have been turning a blind eye to for years.

That’s the way I see it and I’m Joe Sports.

Its time for Offside Thursday.

A survey of online flirting by Badoo.com has identified the three pick-up lines women respond to the most:

2. You have beautiful lips;
1. I play in the NBA.

Thousands of Freiburg soccer fans turned out for a recent home game despite a major route to and from the stadium being blocked by migrating toads. Clearly they love their team, warts and all.

Dustin Byfuglien of the Thrashers said growing up he thought he’d be an ice fisherman not an NHL player. Three difference between the two:
3. In hockey, you have only one line out at a time;
2. Ice fishermen usually aim for the one hole;
1. Hockey players only get two minutes for hooking.

Because of a cash-flow problem, the New York Mets have received a $25-million loan from Major League baseball. The team celebrated by signing a free agent.

There’s bad news and good news for Antawn Jamison of the Cavaliers, who just surgery to repair a broken left pinky. First, he can’t play for Cleveland the rest of season. I’m not sure what the bad news is.

A Buddhist monk is facing five years in prison for violating Bhutan’s nation-wide cigarette and tobacco ban. Holy smokes.

BYU star sophomore Brandon Davies was suspended from the basketball team indefinitely for getting his girlfriend pregnant: Well, that should silence all the doubters who wondered if Davies is NBA ready.

A study found eight per cent of players in the top 25 college football programs have criminal records. I’m thinking the other 92 per cent haven’t been caught.

The week’s best late-night laughs

Late Show

David Letterman

CBS has shut down Charlie Sheen’s show, Two and a Half Men. Now I’m back to being CBS’ No. 1 paid embarrassment.

Charlie Sheen says he will come back, but he wants a raise. At least he hasn’t lost his sense of humour … The CBS commissary has named a sandwich after Charlie Sheen. It’s called a tuna meltdown.

Tonight Show

Jay Leno

Charlie Sheen said that you can’t compare him to other people because he has “tiger blood.” Then Tiger Woods said, “I have Charlie Sheen blood.”

Between Charlie Sheen, Christina Aguilera, and Lindsay Lohan, it’s been a rough time for stars. Who knew Britney Spears would be the role model?

It was really cool at the Oscars when they made it appear as if Bob Hope was alive. That’s the same technology they’ll use at Hugh Hefner’s wedding.

Conan

Conan O’Brien

Moammar Gadhafigave a rambling speech that lasted nearly three hours. So now we know where all of Charlie Sheen’s cocaine went.

Christina Aguilera was arrested for public intoxication. Police knew she was drunk because she got all the words to the national anthem right.

People complained that the Oscars were too dull. They’ve already named the hosts for next year: Charlie Sheen and Moammar Gadhafi.

Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Jimmy Kimmel

This is our 1,500th show. To put that in perspective, it only takes 11 episodes to choose a winner on American Idol … Charlie Sheen is also celebrating an anniversary. It’s his 1,500th interview for the week.

Charlie created a Twitter account to fill the gap between saying crazy things on television with saying crazy things online.

Charlie’s two sons are now in the care of their mother in a safer place: Libya.

Late Late Show

Craig Ferguson

Christina Aguilera was arrested for public intoxication. Is that really a crime? … Apparently Aguilera was stumbling and incoherent, which makes her perfect to host next year’s Oscars.

Happy Independence Day to Texas. For nine years, Texas was its own country. I think Texans still consider themselves another country … The show Walker: Texas Ranger never made sense to me. In a state where everyone carries a gun, he’s a ranger armed with only karate.

Anne Hathaway says she was paid $750,000 to wear a Tiffany diamond necklace to the Oscars. Lindsay Lohan said, “You can do that?”

No More Snow – Please!!!

RED SKELTON’S RECIPE :

For those of you old enough to remember Red Skelton, I think you will enjoy this e-mail. For those of you not old enough you will see what you missed. Either way, his humor was always clean and he was a great entertainer. A re-run of great ‘one liner’s’ from the man who was known for his clean humor. I hope you get a chuckle or two reading them once more.

1. Two times a week we go to a nice restaurant, have a
little beverage, good food and companionship.
She goes on Tuesdays, I go on Fridays.

2. We also sleep in separate beds.
Hers is in California , and mine is in Texas ..

3. I take my wife everywhere,
but she keeps finding her way back.

4. I asked my wife where she wanted to go for our anniversary.
“Somewhere I haven’t been in a long time!” she said.
So I suggested the kitchen.

5. We always hold hands. If I let go, she shops.

6. She has an electric blender, electric
toaster and electric bread maker.
She said “There are too many gadgets, and no place
to sit down!” So I bought her an electric chair.

7. My wife told me the car wasn’t running well
because there was water in the carburetor.
I asked where the car was. She told me, “In the lake.”

8. She got a mud pack and looked great for two days.
Then the mud fell off.

9. She ran after the garbage truck, yelling, “Am I too late
for the garbage?” The driver said, “No, jump in!”.

10. Remember: Marriage is the number one cause of divorce.

11. I married Miss Right. I just didn’t know her
first name was ‘Always’.

12. I haven’t spoken to my wife in 18 months.
I don’t like to interrupt her.

13. The last fight was my fault though.
My wife asked, “What’s on the TV?”
I said, “Dust!”.

Can’t you just hear him say all of these?
I love it. These were the good old days when humor didn’t have to start with a four letter word.
It was just clean and simple fun.
And he always ended his programs with the words,”And May God Bless” with a big smile on his face.

Ok, it’s time to play Offside Thursdays can you find it !!
