Game Preview: Titans travel to Houston to face Texans

The Tennessee Titans and the Houston Texans will play the first of their two divisional games this weekend at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas. Coming in off one of the most exciting games in the franchise’s history, the 1-2 Titans  are looking to continue the winning streak.

The Texans enter the game with a 3-0 for the first time in the franchise’s 10 year history.  The offense and defense for the Texans are the only team that are  ranked in the top ten.  The Texans offense is ranked 7th in the NFL with 395 yards per game and the defense is 2nd in the NFL only allowing 296 yards a game.

The defense of the Texans is led by JJ Watt the second year defensive lineman out of the University of Wisconsin.  Watt has earned the nickname of “JJ Swat” because of all of the passing he has been deflecting at the line of scrimmage.  Watt has already matched the total number of sacks he had last season of 5.5 in only three games this season.  The defense for the Titans has allowed over 30 points in every game this season.

Jake Locker the second year quarterback for the Titans had his best game as a pro and got his first win throwing for 378 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Lions.  Locker also leads the Titans in rushing with 79 yards.  Chris Johnson the former league leading rusher has not gotten on track this season.

The Titans and Texans split the series last season.  Each team won last year’s games on the road.  The Titans were originally based in Houston before relocating to Nashville.  The Titans lead the series   14-7 and are 3-7 at Reliant Stadium.

Arian Foster is the all-time leading rusher for the Texans with 3,391 yards.  Matt Schuab has been very consistent at quarterback this season and is not showing any effects of his season ending ankle injury from last season.  Schuab has thrown for 751 yards this season.  Locker has more passing yards with 781.  Locker has 4 touchdowns passes on the year and 2 interceptions.  Schaub has 5 touchdown passes and only 1 interception for the season.

Unlike last week’s OT classic, this week’s Titans game will air on Memphis television.
